In the elimination round of women’s rifle 3-position event, Anjum Moudgil shot a world record equalling score of 1180, with 395 in kneeling, 395 in prone and 390 in standing in the Shooting World Cup in Munich on Saturday.
Gaayathri Nithyanandam (1162) was not at her best, but made the cut, while Tejaswini Sawant (1148) failed to make the qualification round for Sunday.

Ravi Kumar shot 628.6 and lost a final berth by 0.6 point in men’s air rifle. The other two Indian shooters Arjun Babuta (627.7) and Deepak Kumar (627.4) also shot very well, but missed the final berth in a high-scoring competition, in which Vladimir Maslennikov of Russia topped with 632.8. Ilia Charheika of Belarus won the gold 0.7 point ahead of the qualification topper Maslennikov.
In men’s 25-metre rapid fire pistol event, the Indian shooters were below par, with Anisha Bhanwala (283), Gurpreet Singh (282) and Neeraj Kumar (273) being far from the leading score of 294 at the half way stage. Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar, who had lost his pistol box in transit, shot 288 in the MQS section with the borrowed pistol from Gurpreet.
The second half of the competition and the final will be shot on Sunday.
